I woke up feeling refreshed and cheerful - then I saw it was only Thursday, not Friday ...

Not bad till I stuck my nose into the forum. I've been out for a while , and it seems like most of the old timers are either gone or keeping their heads down , while some of the new blood is determined to start an old fashion nasty flame war. It's looking like the bad old days again. I hope that you are doing well.

I think I'll spend more time on my other new hobby (Whiskey/whisky tasting) instead. Much more pleasant and a lot less vitriolic!

I've noticed that as well, Steve. I just try to stay away from them and hang out with the old farts from the good ole days.

I'm glad to see that you are still around Mike. There are not too many guys who were old timers when I was still the "new punk".

I took a hiatus for a while, but am back in full force. Still working on my game with Ted. We finally hit (barely) 1944. Started one with USS A. That one is in it infancy (infamy?), still in Dec 41.

I've been following it. I'm envious. Mike and I were partners in a couple of 2x2's. He did all the heavy lifting.

I no longer remember where I heard about WitP, even before Uncommon Valor came out. When I signed up for this forum, you couldn't even give yourself a cool name. You had to use your real name. So, I'm stuck with it. It was a long four years waiting for WitP. I do remember downloading WitP though. I was at a mob station waiting to ship out. I hooked my laptop to a phone line and let WitP download all night, the day it came out. Shortly after that, I shipped overseas to Kosovo. We had no internet for our personal computers and the government computers blocked out any gaming site. So, I learned WitP in a vacuum, by myself for a year. It did make that year go by a little more quickly.

It sure must have been a big improvement over the Avalon hill board games I used to do on deployment. Although , there was something cool about using Harpoon to game out a scenario we had just done while deployed to Iceland.

There are still enough of us around who enjoy each other's company to make this a fun place, if you just ignore the gnats.

You're just in time nashvillen. Its the "Old Fogey Mike" club reminiscing about times of yore. You may want to get in on this action too.

Well now, it appears I just retired. My office offered a Voluntary Termination Package. I applied, and it was accepted. And I have enough time to just walk after today. So as of 1 hour from now I am out of a job.

This is only the second time in my life I left a job without having something lined up. Man, this feels WEIRD.

Wait a minute, wait a minute... Whose gonna post all the Friday's commin' jokes now!!!!!

So's I can start things off on a new page without the lurking Nashvillen / Lecivius tyranny, I only have one option.
