They use custom-milled AP rounds with custom-milled shell casings. I think they load the primers themselves. Big emphasis on using the correct loads for their rounds, as opposed to those operations that fire compressed air or other squib loads to 'fire' their guns. I've got the spent AP penetrator (minus a few dents and dings) as a paperweight, after I dug it out of the earthen berm behind the van target.

Technically, it was a mini van.

And the shots were slightly higher than aimed. I guess there's not that much drop on a PaK 40 7.5cm shell at 250 yards.

That is like a 18" round hitting a Jeep carrier, as long as you are not in the way and it is above the waterline it is just extra ventilation.

Before it got cancelled for staff criminal activities, Sons of Guns restored a 57mm anti-tank gun, built their own ammo and tested it on a cargo truck - about a three or five ton. They fired directly at the front of the truck, which still had its engine block. They loaded the target with lots of containers of gasoline to get the Hollywood "orange explosion" effect, but there was no mistaking the chunks of engine block flying all over the place. Too bad your mini van didn't get the same treatment (without the gasoline).

That's not a good combination.

Like booze, late night TV, and credit cards.

You're right. It didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. I found that my attention to the cleaning detracted from the movie and vice versa. Better save the cleaning next time for one of Mrs. Chickenboy's boring 'ole dramas that I really don't have to pay attention to.

Spring's spring is too cold to have sprung here. 15ºC this morning (just above 0ºF) and has been like that for over a week. Now they say we might not see melting until the end of April! Oh well, at least I can drive my car without investing in gallons of windshield washer fluid (as is needed when the temps are around melting point).

I'm *also* just about out of windshield washer fluid! Lots and lots of oak tree pollen all over everything this time of year. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go out and cut the lawn for the fourth time.

68 in Denver, with rain/snow mix tomorrow for opening day. I swear, if you don't like the weather around here, give it an hour. It will change.

Same saying here. Last month Sunny, rain, hail, lightning & thunder, sleet, then snow. No light at the end of the tunnel for spring. Some talking about relocating. After 59 years it was only threes ago I found out we were free to leave.

I was watching the Minneapolis TV news (waiting for Colbert show to start) and they mentioned that their baseball season opener will be the coldest ever - IIRC, for any NL/AL season at any location! Should be interesting to see how that affects the pitching. Will the frozen spit stay on the ball??

There is no baseball when snow is on the ground. But how about the UMD Bulldogs for the championships game against Notre Damne. Should be a great game. But go Bulldogs. Coaching Staff are old UND Sioux players.
