Totally agree. Don't drink soda myself. Never. For the life of me I can't understand why people *pay* to drink that stuff whereas God has given us plenty that costs nothing at all, and is better for your health, and tastes better too; water. Seriously that's all you need, water. Forget the "energy" drinks, the "Red Bulls" forget them all, into the wastebin I say. Twenty or more lumps of sugar per sodacan...woooot...[X(]

Josh, totally agree with you! Soda and the like is an addiction that is hard to break, I'm thankful I haven't had the destructive habit.

What about mineral waters, like Saskia?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Nonsense! Pop is definitely the fountain of youth!! haha [8D]

"When I hurt my ankle and I had to go to the doctor he asked me about my food," Sullivan said in 2014. "I said I don't like tea or coffee, so I drink three Dr Peppers a day. He said 'That will kill you.' About 15 years later I had to change doctors because he died. I was still drinking three Dr Peppers a day, and I still do."

C'mon guys, use a little common sense. Moderation in all things. Soda is not the work of the devil. Sure, one can overdo it (as can one with water itself), but a moderate reasoned approach towards the consumption of soda is unlikely to cause significant harm.

On a personal note, I replaced *most* of my soda intake with naturally flavored sparkling water (no sweeteners, thank you). I still drink the odd Diet Coke or Coke Zero because I enjoy it. But I'll not sound the trumpet of Gabriel for those that have a moderate intake.

Moderation is the key, but the stuff in these drinks are just not worth it for me.

Any friend of mine who has weight issues can help themselves firstly by cutting out sugar-laden beverages. Being a type I diabetic, I've never had a problem with excessive weight. I recommend drinking water and sugar-free green tea.

(BTW, people often confuse type I and type II diabetes. They are two distinctly different diseases.)

Amen, you gonna die of something anyways. Why prolong the inevitable by staying healthy. [:'(] Eat and drink what you want, life is suppose to be about having fun an enjoying yourself like a day at an amusement park. When it's over it's over, the creator helped to create soda just as much as he/she did everything else. [:'(]

Well, I break with that thought. I drink , sometimes 8 diet cokes a day. I enjoy it. Contents in soda is mostly water, and other small amounts of ingredients. I'm not going to let the preliminary thought ruin a simple enjoyment.
I approach any announcement with much skepticism. After cutting down on eggs because supposedly they are bad for you. I will not let people change my way of eating(a small pleasure in life).

I'm all in favor of imprisoning for 5 years all professionals (researchers)who promote someone's findings about different foods that turn out to be false. That would make researchers take the time to get it right.

Pissses me off that I curbed my use of butter and eggs for someone's false proofs.

And now vegetarians and vegans sanctifying themselves, shaming meat eaters!?

Well Josh.
Your view, if it was implemented would eliminate

Juice drinks
Milk
soda
beer
coffee
tea
wine
whiskey

If you run for public office don't advertise your view. The whole world would be your enemy Lol

I'm not diabetic, but I am in my mid 40s and-like many others-need to find a way to remove "empty" calories from my diet judiciously. Against my will 3 years ago I made the switch to diet sodas. It took a while to get used to them, but now I'm fine with it. It's nice to not have to consume so much carbohydrates (sugars) where I don't really need them. That makes for more whiskey drinkin'. :)

The creator helped create it, he didn't say to drink it. It's called buyer beware...ever hear of quality of life? (if you haven't you won't be sticking out your tongue much) Hope you have enough money and someone to take care of you...

+1

Even an excess of *water* might get you killed [:D] And yes, when you are thirsty, and I mean really thirsty... give me only fresh / cold water.

Zap and Chickenboy, I hear what you are saying, here is something you should read, it isn't the end all but it's something to consider:

Amen, you gonna die of something anyways.

Agree 1000%, you have to die of something, no sense worrying about it. Here's my old war-historical newsgroup signature, unfortunately Matrix text limits won't allow me to use it here:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways - Brewski in one hand - cigar in the other - body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"

Jim, I agree but there is a thing called "quality of life", many things we do can improve it without "arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body". I don't intend to be 50% physically but rather 80% to 90% in my later years.
