Bob Flemin' and Orm. A World....AARseIII

Post by warspite1 »

Me and the Ormster are about to start a 3rd game; me as the Axis and Orm as the Allies. Same optionals as before less forts. 3 House rules in play as follows:

1) 50% of all minor country land units must be placed in the home country (minimum 1) with the exceptions of Netherlands and Portugal if the attacking nation is Japan.
2) No raids in the Baltic Sea during '39 after that there are no restrictions on raiding the Baltic Sea.
3) CW may only fly one air mission against Germany on the surprise.
Now Maitland, now's your time!

Lacking inspiration with the Chinese set up I place their units like this.

France continue with the Allied tradition of scraping plenty of units.

I hope my ground striking will be better than last time - I managed to get both Ju-86's! and missed out on the second 5-strength Ju-87 and the Ju-88.

And the Poles are going to need lots of good luck to survive this turn.

The Polish set up.

This time the Poles make certain they not only get their aircraft, but also the HQ to the UK. With no hope of re-organisation, I therefore send over one Stuka to each of Lodz and Warsaw.

Well that's a bit of a downer right at the start of the game - I appear to have place an entire Japanese army on an island [8|]

Edit: And I've mis-calculated the number of movement points required for an attack in the north..... What a twat!

The Germans declare 4 attacks:

- Lodz
- Poznan
- northeast of Warsaw
- north of Katowice

The Japanese declare two attacks, but then - my bottle totally gone - I back out of both [&:] I have no +1. I do have enough aircraft to get a 4:1 in the north so I go for it....

I bring in 3 aircraft to Lodz to try and get 5:1. I am one short but suspect I would be unlikely not to get the fractional odds on that basis.

The other Polish attacks should all be automatic.

I try the same tactic in China and refuse to use all 4 points required - I go for three so I still have one aircraft left if there is another shot at an attack later in the turn.

First off its southwest Poland. The Germans get to choose as so at 7:1 its automatic.
