How exactly is the supply flow calculated?

Post by viberpol »

Quick questions for the devs concerning the supply flow mechanics.

Questions:
How exactly is the supply flow calculated?
Is it the same every turn in every hex with open/owned hexside?
Or different in a contested hex with both enemy's LCUs present?
Does it mean the supplies should arrive there every single turn in standard doses regardless of rivers, mountains etc.?

Explanation: Once upon a time (with patches 6m3 in 2012 or something...) [;)] there were numbers in hexes showing the supply amount flowing into every hex.
Those numbers diminished with miles or river blocks.

Today, when you position your map in a base hex and hit "5" you see only yellow dots.

Does it imply that the Japanese units West of Sian receive every turn (from Nanyang) the same supply dose as those South-East from the city?

Michael, please shed some light from inner mechanics point of view.

Additional auxiliary question from RL PBEM.

Should Allies in a contested Japanese owned hex NE from Patna
receive full supplies every turn from behind a major river?

Attaching a copy of the ingame file concerning the supply flow in rate into a contested hex.

OK. You meant this?

tm.asp?m=2878790&mpage=1&key=

Each overland transportation route has a value which is determined by subtracting from 100 the cost of movement associated with each hex along which the supply must travel. The value of the overland route then determines how often a delivery is made:

Four times per week if the overland transportation route amounts to 89 - 100
• Two times per week if the route amounts to 49 – 88
• Once per week if the route amounts to 10 – 48

These are actually additive, not exclusive. The table should be corrected:
Four times per week if the overland transportation route amounts to 89 - 100
• Two times per week if the route amounts to 49 – 100
• Once per week if the route amounts to 10 – 100

The effect of this difference is that short range (89 to 100) gets supply 7 days per week (the short pull plus the medium pull plus the long pull); medium range gets supply 3 days per week (the medium pull plus the long pull); and long range gets supply 1 day per week (the long pull).

Attached is my cut and paste of a post by a Developer (IIRC it was James, but I am not 100% certain) when working on supply in the code.

EDIT: Although, I am not sure if this (witpq's txt attached below) explains supply inflow in hexes or base hexes only.

Yes. It may not be exactly what your looking for, However it will give you enough info to start to understand how it works. Use the search function too. It is not always perfect, but it helps....GP
