My apologies if I missed a thread, but for those wondering what to ask for for X-Mas, I am reading this book and enjoying it:

"Japan 1941: Countdown to Infanmy" by Eri Hotta

Very well written account of the politics and diplomatic efforts of Japan in the ramp-up to Pearl Harbor. Why did Japan attack the United States? Book tackles that.
