I am slightly behind historical in center, but SHC loses are less then 1/2 of historical and no wheres near 2.5 to 3 million average.

AGS is about historical. I am close to freeing up AGB, but Saper has 5.5 million troops and has just railed down a new army.
I am guessing I will be facing 3 rows deep of 50+ CV stacks after mud breaks.

Pelton, the issue of Saper's high Soviet CV's is likely due to some unigue use of engineer and construction SU's along with city manpower and HQ manipulation aimed at fort construction. I know little about Soviet defense strategy, but my naivete is freed from the frustration that you feel in understanding Saper's ledgerdemain.

I don't want to add to the list of 1.08 "fixes", but the lack of Soviet casualty attrition puzzles me. 1/2 to 2/3's of German casualties are due to attrition and nearly zippo for the Ruskies. Am I wrong ???

Every side sees only its own attrition. Or are there some problems with it?

What I am getting at is SHC KIA

GHC KIA SHC KIA Ratio

1q42 280,238 1,686,355 6.02
2q42 220,291 1,395,335 6.33
3q42 383,750 2,371,162 6.18
4q42 177,050 1,281,085 7.24

In 1942 there was little to no pockets, this is strait up combat. The current combat system from 42-45 is 1.5 GHC to 1 SHC, nothing even close to historical.

WitE combat system is all about pocketing units as GHC and it should have little to do with that.

1q43 498,795 1,908,052 3.83
2q43 110,139 444,858 4.04
3q43 533,025 2,633,522 4.94
4q43 381,725 1,939,845 5.08

I think 1.08 as far as logistics goes is about right, but the combat ratio is far far from historical.

1.5 to 1 combat ratio was never reached on the eastern front even in 45.

Only on the Western Front was the combat ratio 1.5 dead allies to 1 German.

Its moving high morale units and SU + good leaders and turning refit on or off depending on the units in question, plus not letting GHC have any pockets.

vs lesser SHC players its easyer to get a pocket and once you do its harder for them to recover.

The snowball effect.

Yes 2x or 3x attrition loses to Russian troops would get things closer to historical.

Over-all game is still by far and away best Eastern Front Game to date.

I am happy with 1.08-game is playable unlike 1.07.

A few tweaks aka .1, but we need to get these games into 44 to know for sure about late war stuff.

How do you use HQBU? We are on T10 with Kamil and GHC took Lipetsk and blocked Voronezh and Stalino. No signs of WW1.

HQBU is not as good as before and logistics is a real issue now.
GHC CV is better and couplied with fort nerf makes for a more fluid game, unless your playing Saper of course.
Pioneers and 150mm+ artillery help drop forts easyer also.

Turn 30

I am holding near Leningrad and have lost 3-4 hexes near Moscow.

My OOB is only 3.1 million.

Saper has done a great job, no 1v1=2v1 and mild winter.

He has held Leningrad and Moscow and is getting guard units.

Saper has no need to whine he simply gets it done no matter the rule set.

SHC OOB is at 6.6 million.

It is about facts and not whining, no 1v1=2v1 and mild winter and Saper is clearly easly winning.

In the south Saper has pocketed 4 divisions so far.

I am retreating 1 or 2 hexes per turn.

Turn 33 North

The lines above Oka are stable with 6 or 7 hexes changing hands every turn.

Not an expat until Feb next year. Move allows v. little gaming as planning and soon implementing the mission to restore France to the English crown takes precedence over all else.

This one fell off the radar once the conversation turned to legs and bottoms. Why did Saper quit on T36?
