Hey Berto

Post by Dan K »

First, thanks to you and the team. Really enjoying 2.01. I'm still using the 2.0 button menu size :-)

Anyway, back in EF 1.02, a guy was doing some modding and had a mod where the vehicles reversed instead of exposing their rear when retreating.
Would adding that be possible now that you are the Code Master?
I still have copies of his files if you want to take a look at them.

Thanks!

Good thing. In the Middle East game currently under development, we are already adding two more buttons (for controlling on-board airplanes and helicopters). More buttons will be added still. For sure, you'll get Toolbar auto-wrap if you don't use the "Standard" Toolbar.

At this scale (250 meters per hex), is this something we want to model? Rhetorical question. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I defer to the Dev Team on this issue.

Would it be possible? Sure.

"His files." Data files, of course? Consider posting them here so that the Dev Team might take a look.

They are modified EF .exe files. All I remember is the tanks would reverse away from the attacker, if forced to retreat. A lot of players use the optional armor facing rule.
I can send the files to Mike if you want.

vehicle reverse movement

If it's modified EXEs, no need to post or send.

I use the optional armor facing rule too.

I just question: How realistic is it to suppose that an entire tank platoon would reverse, back up, hex by hex, consistently through 250 meters, 500 meters, 750 meters, ... ? At what point, under what terrain conditions, would the platoon effectively be forced to turn around and do normal forward movement (exposing the tanks' rears)?

No doubt this has been discussed to death before now.

Yes. A lot of discussion on the forward attack aspects of a platoon too and the whole armor facing rule in general.
I could see it as another optional rule. Files are hosted at the Blitz in the downloads section.

Peace, out.
