It seems several were operational at war start. For example I-9 had a E9W instead of a Glen.

Get a load of the range! 10 hexes!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watanabe_E9W

ETA: Interesting...the E14Y Wiki shows a similar range. Quite different from the range in the game. I wonder why the vast discrepancy?

Interestingly, YFM-1 Airacuda and Ki-20 are also missing. This game is full of holes.

Edit: some stuff was probably left out for balancing reasons in combination with their lack of impact on the war. The E9W just might be one of em.

There's no discrepancy. Remember, it's range, not radius. The Glen in Scenario 1 has a maximum range of 10 hexes, extended combat range of 4 hexes, and normal combat range of 3 hexes. If someone wanted to include the E9W in a mod, it would probably have the same range.

Ah. So. I interpreted range as radius. My bad.

In same theme found this:

Flying Glen Model. Just needs a sub now...

Thinking about it could be a nice plane to put in a millionaire yacht.

Interesting this information: http://www.combinedfleet.com/I-25.htm

quote:

29 January 1942:
The repairs of No. 1 main ballast tank are finished. In the afternoon I-25 embarks a Yokosuka E14Y1 Type 0 "Glen" monoplane. Commences floatplane launch and recovery exercises. [3]

[3] I-25 was apparently one of the first IJN submarines to embark that type, confirmed by an article written by Fujita Nobuo for the "Maru" Magazine in 1989.

So the question now is if any submarine at time of Pearl Harbour attack had a Glen or if instead all of them had E9W's
