GMap or?

Post by George Patton »

I'm continuing my scenario but, sometimes, GMap desn't cover the region that I desire.
Is possible to use some other programs to acquire images for overlay?

Have you tried using other mapping formats that are available within Gmap?

what region are you having a problem with?
To go up, pull back on the stick.
To go down, pull back harder...

I'm trying to map all the swiss military airbases. Starting from south of Switzerland, the first two are not visible.
Today I'll try something different with Google Earth

You can build the scenario using Google Earth, saving each location as a "pin" and naming it the specific name you'll use for the scenario. The names get picked up by the KML Inst tool. I know a few people build airbases this way, I don't think there is a preferred option if that helps? You'll need to redo the installation file to change the DBID but that doesn't actually take too long.

Not sure if this helps with your imagery issue mind.

Jakob's guide should be in the thread here and gives a good overview.

A related question...

Are there other, similar programs (especially freeware) anyone would recommend if someone wants to try out an alternative to gmap?
