I know when I've been in very bad situations, not war but bad disasters at bases one tends to develop a very large case of I don't give a rats rear end. It took me days/weeks to recover my attitude afterwords. Their were a lot of comments about the person picking up the blown off arm in battle. I actually somewhat could see that happening. We were trained to operate on auto pilot when frighted out of your mind and in such a case the arm would be mine and as weird as it sounds I too might have picked it because you have a habit of picking up your things especially if your mind isn't in the thinking mode. With most of us when our mind leaves it returns on it's own after a while but I've thought shell shock is when it takes longer than what is considered usual or not at all. Shoot I saw people snap and go catatonic at basic training. To me basic wasn't a big deal but some folks must have been very sheltered.

Yeah, but a real ****ty one. As a combat veteran, I have a real issue as what you think about 'shell shock'. I have seen both kinds: combat trauma and neuroaesthetic response. You have obviously never been in combat, so you have no point to which to relate your nonsense. Find something else to talk about. Ciao. J
