Hi all,

I've noticed the commander attributes in PitF (Aggression, Caution, Charisma, Tactics) are all set to 0, is there a reason for this? Is it just me or everyone has them at 0?

Furthermore, do they even have a tangible effect on anything? I only know of charisma affecting teams morale. If the commander had high charisma low morale troops became average morale troops and so on.

Expanding on, this time on soldier attributes, what does strength and intelligence actually do or why do I need to know those attributes?

Health: lets you know when a soldier is physically OK or injured which affects its overall performance (slower, not as good aiming)
Leadership: High ranking leaders have more leadership which translates to higher area of influence. Teams under this area get a boost on morale.
Morale: How likely a team is to surrender under heavy fire. A low morale team surrenders more easily.
Experience: A soldier with 100% experience can use its weapon to its top degree of accuracy at Point blank.
Strength: ?????
Intelligence: ?????

Commander Aggression, Caution, and Tactics all effect what sort of strategy the AI is likely to select for a given battle (and in the case of Caution, how much of a reserve they will hold back). Setting them to '0' actually leads to the most flexible AI performance, as does not lean heavily towards one end of the spectrum or another. Charisma has a very modest effect on soldier morale.

Soldier strength/physical rating effects how much weight they can carry, how quickly they tire, and how quickly they recover from fatigue. It also has a minor effect on their chance to survive injury, though the kill rating of most weapons in the game tends to make this effect minimal.

Intelligence/mental rating effects how well the soldier reacts to high stress (more likely to go heroic+ if they have high mental), how quickly they perform actions, and also how much experience they gain between battles.

Steve
