Amazon Kindle free Military History

Post by TJD »

Free Kindle ebook today in US and UK: 'War by Timetable: How the First World War Began' by A J P Taylor

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DIDASXA/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B00DIDASXA&linkCode=as2&tag=freemilhistbooks-21

There are usually one or two worthwhile freebies per week. If there's interest I'll continue to post the links here.

Edit:

The above is the link to Amazon.uk. Here's the US link:

Sounds like a good idea. Keep posting the freebies, I've got some very good books for free through Kindle.

I wish Amazon would do free military history (physical) books! I know that will not happen, but it's good to dream once in awhile! [:D]

That would be nice but you know, even if you don't have a Kindle you can still read these books through your browser, e.g., the Cloud Reader for Chrome. I'm sure there's a Firefox extension as well.

There's also the Kindle reader applicationwhich you can install in your PC and in other devices.

But do yourselves a favor... buy an E ink e-reader. The only thing I miss is the smell of printed paper. I really enjoy reading in my Kindle.

I do most of my Kindle reading on Android phone and tablet and I do miss the E ink. V Paulus is right; it really does make all the difference.

Thank you for that! An e-reader for me will be coming in the future!

Now this is interesting: if you've ever bought a hard copy from Amazon, going all the way back to 1995, you'll be able to get a huge discount on the ebook version too. It's called Kindle Matchbook.

Gutenberg press also has free e-books for download. They have Caesar's Gallic Wars, some material from Cicero and Cato, as well as an assortment of works and biographies of various world leaders. All free and they have kindle editions for most of their material.
