I've a question about England. What year did England become known as England? I know that the early Saxon kingdoms were Wessex, Northumbria, etc. I'm not sure when the country was called England, and when the people became known as English?

Just curious...

From Wikipedia...

"According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first known use of "England" to refer to the southern part of the island of Great Britain occurs in 897, and its modern spelling was first used in 1538."

Englaland (or Angelonlande) whichever tongue one wishes to use, belongs to me. Silly Warspite1-Newblette is actually a servant who is in training to do my bidding, but he is still sleep-walking-
