Gents,

As a public service, I wanted to post this photo of Andre enjoying his new Personal Water Craft, which he designed and built. He's particularly excited because the ice just cleared from the local lake. He estimates he'll have 17 days to enjoy the PWC before next winter's ice begins to form.

Sincerely,

Canoerebel

All he has to do is strap on a couple of tobaggans and it's good to go for winter recreational fun.

Of course! I hadn't thought of that before. And if he rigs up a sail, he can go ice sailing all winter long (August 28 to May 27).

I'm just pleased that it's got a massive hammock design for...erm...support.  I need a great deal of support, so that design feature was paramount.  In a winsome sort of way.

It is said that the early Polynesians crossed the Pacific in a similar type craft.

...being the nautical genius that he is, i see that CB designed this so that the bow and stern are interchangeable...BRILLIANT!

...couple of questions, though
what's the ship type? AHc? (coastal auxillary hammock craft)
what's the endurance rating?
what's the load capacity (in cases of beer and hot chicks)?
what's the next upgrade date and what is the upgrade?
when does is get it get recalled to the other side of the lake and what are the PP penalties for ignoring this? (actually, CB may gain PP's from WU for transferring early)

Looks like a deadringer for a replacement for the AAV-7A1. CB u should really enter the ACV competition, with the CNPWC!
I dont see "tech creep" happening here so it might be on budget.

Looks like the ballast is off some & she's listing to port/starboard (whatever left is in nautical terms). Also looks to have some hawging going on already on the bulkhead supports. Might want to put her into drydock to increase the bulkhead supports in size (maybe a solid 4x4 would be better than a 2x4)

1st upgrade adds a pole holder.
2nd upgrade adds a trolling motor.
3rd upgrade adds a cooler for beer.
4th upgrade adds Radar and AA guns. It's built in the U.S. after all.

Genius! A floating hammock. I want one. Can I get one with an optional canopy for the rainy season?

Chicken Tenders!

So, the class of ship is the YCT.

Shouldn't the upgrade path include a First Mate named Ginger?

Now, Chickenboy, I see you're using lumber treated with copper sulfate. First I would remind you that termites cannot swim. Second I would advise you not to fall asleep and follow the St. Laurence Seaway off to the east, because lobster's blood is based upon copper instead of iron, and if they catch wind of you their claws will be clicking and clacking trying to get a piece of you.

If I'm incorrect about your using pressure treated 2x4s, forgive me. It would then appear that you have used Missouri yellow pine, which is unlike any other pine in that it wears like iron. As a onetime carpenter, I can attest that you cannot drive a nail into Missouri yellow pine unless you drill a hole for the nail first.

Your schedule 40 PVC pontoons look very good by the way.

Although, have you heard the expression about getting your knickers in a twist? It appears that while propelling your vehicle forward, you might begin singing in an octave above what most gondoliers use.

The RAN is looking for new Amphibious Support ships, send in your tender and see if they bite!

I would stil prefer LST's mode of transport!

You should copper the bottoms as a precaution against the borer worms. Also it would improve your speed...somewhat.

You have to be impressed with the ingenuity of the people that came before us. I mean, for the Polynesians to come up with the chemistry for Polyvinyl chloride to make the out-riggers - I mean like wow!!!!

Here's a pic of one of the earlier ones (although this is 8th century AD in Central Java, Indonesia).

Holy Thread Resurrection, Batman! Found this one from 5 years back and got a chuckle out of it. Note the old denizens that we haven't seen much of lately (SuluSea). Also note the even older OP, that we see all the freakin' time.

Chickenboy gave up on using this as a personal watercraft. He toyed with its possibilities as a pleasure-making apparatus. Then he considered whether it might be useful as a "cloth for post-bowel-movement cleaning of the canyon between tender buttocks of the soft urban male."

SuluSea,

Love the avatar. had much great fun playing that game. I took it down off the shelf about six months ago and dusted it off with the intention of relearning it.

I got about five pages into the manual and realized how spoiled computer games have made me in that I no longer have to memorize the rules in order for the game to play properly and of course got sleepy reading all those rules and needed a nap.

Never did get back to the rules learning effort.
