Halted/Stopped

Post by Stvitus2002 »

Looking for clarification as to the difference between Halted/Stopped
ship production. As the manual is a bit light on the subject.
Also,there is "highlighted" Halted/Stopped,and "unhighlighted"
Halted/Stopped. How long after i change from stopped to normal
does it take for construction to start?

You halt a ship when it's being built.
You stop a ship in any of it's other production states. E.g When queued, pending or blue print.
If by highlighted you mean yellow as opposed to grey then these ships can be accelerated.

Halted - no further progress will be made on this ship.
Stopped - progress will continue until you actually have to start spending NSY/MSY pts to build. At that point, they automatically switch to halted.

The subtlety here is that in Normal mode the ship is being built, but you only spend NSY/MSY pts for the last 1/3 of the time it takes. Think of the first 2/3 as building all the components. The last 1/3, everything gets put on the hull and you spend your pts.

In Accelerate mode, you have to spend some NSY/MSY pts the ENTIRE time (1pt/day for the first 2/3, then 2pts/day for the last 1/3).

So, generally, I have my ships set to Stopped as they all make progress "free". I set the ones I really want to Normal or Accelerate.

There was an in depth discussion on this topic back some time ago when the Stop feature was introduced by MichaelM. You should search it up.

Thanks for the explanation,i have been stumbling along for a few game months
