Is there any way to make an order for...
"Improve this system ONLY!"
I know the machines like to run all over to build things but I want to set up shop in my own system first. Plus in the early game I don't have enough escorts to go around and they take off to other places that are unprotected. Let alone halfway across the galaxy.

Not that I know of although someone else may be able to give you an answer on how to do this.

I usually wait for the message on construction ship finished and then reassign it to another job early in the game.

Also, I don't provide escorts. I haven't been able to figure out how to insure that these stay with the construction ship all the time. What I do is redesign the constructor ship to an Armed Constructor Ship and put weapons and shields on it. The mix of weapons depends on what race I'm playing and what I have researched. But I usually like one or two Point Defense Cannons, Missiles or Torpedeos for range, and, early on, a few rail guns. Later I replace the rail guns with something else.

This is enough to survive most monsters (if a Silvermist shows up, all you can do is run), and most pirate ships early on to keep the loss rate down.

You will lose some of these, but hopefully it will be a little later in the game when the lost doesn't hurt as much.

Select your construction ship and right click on additional construction targets and queue additional projects for it. I think this is the only way to keep a constructor in a system. If it is idle, it will probably fly off to do something else once you queue something in the expansion manager.

You can turn off automation and order all projects manually.

You could also edit the constructor design to have minimal fuel. I don't believe they accept build projects outside their practical range.

In a related area, I wish the names of the moons of the system began with the name of the system (or the planet they revolve around). Example: "Sol Titan" So when I use the expansion planner to set construction orders, I could filter by name, and have all the planets and moons grouped together for better planning.

I second this. This would help so much when trying to find resources in a particular system.
