I would like to play the Showdown at Borisov scenario with a few changes in relative strengths and units....I saved and renamed the scenario, then, as an example- tried adding reinforcements, but, the 'available units' pop up won't expand to show any units there in to choose from.

I know I have missed a step somewhere, can a kind soul point me in the right direction?

Did you edit the org file to add units to the mix?

The four files involved with Showdown at Borisov are borisov.bmp (scenario pic), borisov.map (map, obviously), borisov.org (oob file you need to edit), and borisov.scn (scenario file that put all it together)

First, open OOB Editor and look up borisov.org. Study the existing org on the right, then add units from the left. Make sure they are moved to proper locations within the existing organisation. There's a part in the JTCS manual that explains this.

Then, open up Scenario Editor, and open up borisov.scn. The small unit dialogue window shows units that are in the org file but not in the scenario yet. The units you added should be there. Just click on a unit and it appears on the active hex. Note that if you removed units from org file you need to locate the respective unit bitmap in the scenario, and manually remove that too. Tricky, that.

Then, save the scn file and you are done.

Before you did anything you obviously copied all the original files to a safe location, right :)

crossroads thank you! Much obliged......

Ok, so I have opened the OOB. I see the Russian units available on the left and the formations now in the scenario on the right.

IF I want to add a russian mech corp. and/or say a Airborne corps., to the Russian OoB for the scenario, I add it UNDER the 5th Guards tank army ( the highest or superior org..) on the right? Or aside from it..as a new formation?

I am reading page 85 of the manual, its well, for a newby not very clear to me.....sorry....

Oh and yes, I have created separate folder with a copy of the files I am working on so I don't wreck the originals... ;)

That depends on whether or not you want it to be a subordinate formation or not? Tinker away man, that's how I learned to mod this great system, been at it now for over 14 years!!
