Since you are seeing some of the unit selection tree I thought I would show you the entire selection tree for the US forces.

Your selections can be anything from an entire battalion for the NATO forces all the way down to a single weapons system. The Soviet selection tree goes from Regimental size down to single weapons system.

This editor is capable of recreating any tactical matching that you might want to recreate, with the sole exception being the combat engineers. Their presence is found in the scenario editor for the map information.

Good Hunting.

To expand one of the tree's branches I chose Corps Support Assets.

These are the Corps Support Assets for a US force.

There are 3 water obstacles in the game.

Streams - less than 500 meters across.

Rivers - at least 500 meters across.

Major Rivers - 1000 meters across. This includes the Rhine and other rivers with wide flood plains and docking areas.

Given enough time all water obstacles can be bridged or forded.

Good Hunting.

Jack54,

I'll see if I can get together some preliminary hardware specifications and post them tonight.

I really like what I am seeing here…this definitely is a game to pick up. As I like writing AAR’s a good deal, the design of this effort seems to lend itself nicely to that end.

The denser the terrain in the hex the more blocking values it creates. This is for both movement, observation for units in the hex and LOS through the hex.

1 - is light woods.
2 - is heavy woods.
3 - is medium woods.
4 - is minimal woods.

The blocking values are assigned to the percentage of the hex that has blocking terrain in it. The more blocking terrain the higher the obstruction.

Good Hunting.

Elevation changes, inside a forest area, can be seen simply by looking at the forest sculpting. Each elevation change is marked by a separation line in the forest so you can tell at a glance if the elevation changes.

Of course, there are in-game tools to help with determining LOS restrictions and terrain mobility obstructions.

Good Hunting.

You can easily see where the roads cross the water obstacles. The scenario designer determines the state of that road crossing.

1) No bridge marker means no bridge.

2) A destroyed bridge marker means no bridge.

3) A good bridge marker means a bridge.

Good Hunting.

During game play you can check your units effectiveness and their losses.

Here is the top half of the Reported Kills and Claims table. As you can see, our combat units have not made any kills at this point.

Great stuff as usual... any chance in the future of having the 'headers' locked on the (Report Kills and Claims). I will probably confuse the columns as I start scrolling down.

That's a simple request. We'll see if that's possible with so little time left before release.

Checked with Rob and unfortunately the whole table is in a HTML control and it treated like a page when scrolled. If we figure something else out we'll let you know.

Speaking of modding...seems like a reasonable mod to me...

Just not yet is all.

Factors are not accurate to game scale. This is just a sample of what can and will be done with the game.

Good Hunting.

Nice, maybe in Abilities i add frontal angle armor as bonus, the frontal 85mm armor provide a lot better protection than 50mm lateral flat armor and not all tanks have this... other point could be add space armor ability to cover for example the use of sand bags, bedsteads or german skirts VS AT rifles, panzerfaust...

Well, maybe after see the game release and a pair of add-ons... but i am divided, i never say no to a good WWII game but another west-east title... today i am more interested in other fronts (Pacific) or other wars (i remember your arab-israeli proyect and you allways can add gulf war and/or Irak-Iran war as add-ons).

But a more infantry title need improve infantry details.

Just as an aside, we do have a vehicle special now for skirts. Armor angle would really depend on the scale of resolution. Right now at 500m per hex engagement angles are a wash. If you drop down to a fully tactical resolution in the 25-50 meter per hex range and are using a more refined elevation model and can trace fire lines and armor angles it would be worth the extra effort. We are a good step above that resolution.

The middle data spot on the bottom of the counter is for movement type.

L - Leg
T - Tracked
W - Wheeled

Units can either start as a Leg unit or be turned into one during game play by having their transportation destroyed.

The two Soviet Leg units were Tracked units when the game started. Now they are desperately fighting to stay alive as they walk across the battlefield.

Good Hunting.

Death stalked this road.

Three times the AI came down this road. Twice I stopped it.

Each time as it was stopped it redeployed. As it redeployed so did I. As I redeployed to meet the new threat area it came back to this road.

You can see where the 3 battles of the forest road took place. You can also see that I, eventually, lost that fight!

This was a great moment for a gamer playing the AI. Not being able to determine what the AI would do next was, well, PRICELESS! Thank you Rob!!!

Good Hunting.

Never fun getting caught in tight spaces like that. Being that close levels the playing field and kills any tech advantage as NATO. Great for the Soviets though.

You can see that played out here. At both ends of the road were heavy Soviet losses. In the forest the losses were from both sides.
