The Greatest Battles Collector's Edition

Post by hadberz »

The folks over at GoG have released The Greatest Battles Collector's Edition. I still have the Great Battles of Caesar cd, but could never get it to work with Win XP. I always enjoyed these games, so it's good to see them released again.

+1. Great price, too. All three were a struggle to get running with any OS from XP onwards; I only ever managed it with Alexander. These all run just fine on Windows 7 64 bit and the sale page says they are Windows 8 compatible as well.

I've always liked this series, both boardgames and conversion and such close boardgame conversions are rare. It's a nice rule-set that's easy to learn but is still 'historical'. The games still look pretty good as well IMHO. Thoroughly recommended.

Please correct me if I am wrong, as I am tempted to purchase, but when originally released I seem to recall many players complained the PC AI cheated. Is that correct?

I loved this series and am now going to spend some of my ill gotten gains. Thanks for the tip.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.
