Looking at a modern map, it is logical to assume that Denpassar is the main port and city of Bali. It is, however, incorrect before 1953, when Denpassar and the region of Southern Bali was developed. The center of both Dutch and Japanese administration, and the principal port, before that, was Singaraja - in hex 58/107.

Singaradja a.f.a.i.k is the centre of Bali at this time from 'native' perspective - but, don't forget, the meaningful thing on Bali from perspective of game is the airfield, which indeed is at Denpasar since c.1930 (hence the Japanese landing there, Badoeng-strait battle occurring where it did etc). So, there is not really much to 'do' on other hex of Bali.

This is the 1 in 100 where Cid is not far from the mark.

Denpasar was the "Royal" capital until about 1906 when the Dutch moved it to Singaraja.

Singaraja was the main port until the early '70s when Denpasar was further developed.

I holidayed on Bali (drank beer!!!!) in 1979 and we toured around to the north, though many of the towns were substantial I dont remember much of a port, maybe didnt get as far as Singaraja.

Dont forget a "port" for these areas could be little more than a sheltered anchorage.

As far as AE goes, choose a hex to put a port/airbase in, matters very little.

The airfield was at Denpasar. It is now the location of the airport.
