I am playing the 44-45 campaign as the Germans. During the Soviet phase of turn 10, I am sitting watching the moves progress and had to walk away and missed the rest. When I returned, Finland had been knocked out of the war. The Soviets had been at the gates of Vyborg but it was heavily defended by three well dug in Fin divisions and I did not notice a soviet buildup during the previous turn.

When I hit F11, I don't see any battle sites in Finland. Is there any way to find out what happened? The event log and Commanders Report are no help.

Thanks

Section 19.1.4.4:
quote:

Finland surrenders if Helsinki is Soviet controlled. There is a chance that Finland will surrender if, after January 1, 1942, any Finnish city or town is Soviet controlled or Vyborg, Narva and Pskov are all Soviet controlled. If one of these conditions is met, then a Surrender Threshold (ST) value is calculated equal to 2 plus 1 for each German Division in Helsinki plus 2 additional points for each Division that is an Elite SS unit. The ST can never be greater than 9. Once the ST is determined, if Die (10)>ST, then Finland surrenders.

Thanks Elmo3. I'm guessing that Vyborg must have been captured because Finland surrendered the same turn that I abandoned Narva, and PSkov was already in Soviet hands. Yet there is no Battle Site (F11) shown near Finland, so I guess I'll never know for sure what happened. And there was no Finish town captured by the Soviets at that time. The lack of a battle site I think is the ultimate issue here.

Perhaps in later editions of the game they will "Announce" when an ally surrenders and display the conditions that caused it.
