You either play Japan and get a few cool toys or Play the Allies and get many not so cool toys. If you give the allies cool toys too you break the game balance.

To be serious, nice find, I never heard of that thingie.

Speaking of Cool Toys for JFBs, how do you get the G4M2e's to use their MXY7 Ohka 11s? They are grayed out on the Aircraft Data. It is February of 1945. They have over 20k supplies at the base. They show as devices in tracker, but I don't see them in the device lists in the game. Using December 8 scenario.

Looked through the archives, it seems they are pool related, but we are one month past introduction and no evidence of any being produced.

heh, Allies get a few cool toys, too - LCI(G) & LSM(R). might be they need some air-cover, Corsairs are available!

I think I have found the problem. Opening the scenario editor, the Scenario 6 settings show a No in the Can Build slot for these. Well, why would the G4M2e be available to spend research on and build if you can't have the weapons for them?

Can my opponent modify the scenario to allow these now? Not messed with doing things with the scenarios.

BTW, for search references:

MXY7 Ohka 11 is device 197
MXY7 Ohka 22 is device 1885

Your decadent westerners will all leave their battle stations if they hear a Betty is approaching. Yankee womanizers.

You mean they didn't already break the game balance by giving them to the Japanese?

The Italian battleship Roma was sunk by two Fritz X hits after the Italian armistice.

Even worse, the Japanese, with their ritter hands, would be really good with the joystick.

The Allies should also get the glide torpedo from the B-25s that tried it off Japan in 45. Able to be dropped from 10+ miles off and gliding into target area before being released into the water! No one knows if they worked though. They were planning to bring recon planes along the next time but the war ended before they could test it out.

The Allies don't get homing torpedoes either! Unfair! Borked! Mega-borked!

Interesting to me as a sub geek, the USN never uses electirc torpedoes, which were about 50% of the deployed inventory by 1944 (memory.) Lower speed, longer range, more stealthy, different upkeep challenges. Might not make a lot of difference, but I think they're already in the DB. Just not used in stock.

Not really borked as scenario 1, 2, and 6 don't allow the Ohkas to be produced.

Fido homing torpedo would be bad for IJN subs.

Yep.

The FM sonar at the end of the war would be nice too. Make HI minefields a lot less troublesome.

My moose brain allows me to remember things, but just enough to know I don't really remember them. I am virtually certian this issue was wrung out in the forum in the first year of the game's life. I want to say between months 6 and 12, but I could be off. And there was a reason they didn't include these devices. Michael probably knows as well, but I'm sure it's in the archives somewhere.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2372618&mpage=1&key=okha

from Feb 2010 discusses the Okha and points out that they are not in the stock scenarios. Not dev-speak, however.

Which means until it is decided that the Japanese can have Okhas don't play Scenario 1, 2, or 6 as the Japanese if you want to use them. Of course, this could be corrected later...

Or you could go into the editor and check one box before you start the game with your opponent.

You're welcome.

Thanks moose... Will make sure, before I start my next game, to make sure of that.

What I am looking for is a solution to something I started 2.5 years ago with someone on 8 DEC 41 and we are now in the middle of FEB 45.

I have spent considerable HI towards developing a weapons system for use against the Yankee aggressors (I am from the south, after all). Don't think there is one, and unless I hear back from my post in the tech section on a solution to a game in progress, I will just use the 300 or so G4M2e's I have stockpiled as Kamikazes or search aircraft as they can do little more.

By mid 44, I had pretty much sunk all of my opponent's subs anyways. Unless he is holding them back for the "Gotterdamerung." (I have no clue about my spelling there.)
