It really does include some of John Ford's historic Midway film but it also seems to include shots from virtually every air battle in the rest of the war.

In particular, I am interested in the four or five seconds around 6:01 into the film. I had not realized there was color motion picture footage of a successful bombing attack on a carrier. Can anyone tell me what carrier, when and where?

well that carrier a bit of a mystery but guessing Jun'yō Battle of the Philippine Sea...she was bombed then and that was probability a clip from there but not sunk.

Those clips were filmed by a little digital firm-crew, that I lit film a doco in the Pacific. Of my little digital units, in my Pbem game against Chickenboy.

Well that's what I believe anyway, and nobody is going to make see the reality.

Good clip, lots of errors by the narrator, but still of real interest. Thanks for sharing. Hal

My guess would be one of the CVL's off Cape Engano. But before that I sorta recognized some film of the IJN maneuvering while under attack at the end of The Battle of the Philippine Sea.
