Task Force reup problem.

Post by hbrsvl »

Hi- Scen.9, Allies, latest official v, 9/1/43. Allies hold Nago and are just about ready to go into Naha. Problem- My Bombbardment TF of OBBs, etc. was not fully replentished with large caliber ammo during latest turn. Reason given-"Could not completely replentish due to port capicity..." There are plenty supplies in hex. Nago is a class 3 port.

Is there some way to give a particular TF priority for resupply over other TFs who are using port facilities to unload, etc.?

It takes a little extra work, but you can just set all of your TFs there to "Do Not Refuel", then go through each one in the order you want to replenish them, turning Refuel back on then refueling (and simultaneously reloading) them in the order you want. That said, with a port that size even with support you may not always be able to reload a large group of BBs in one turn.

How much naval support do you have at the base, and do you have any AE type ships at the port? Without naval support squads or an AE, a level 3 port can't reload anything much larger than a 3" gun.

sometimes even a large port can't fully re-arm an arriving TF. an arriving CV TF (low on available sorties) will usually need 2 days in port to fully refuel and re-arm.

-a Port has an inherent ability, but is limited by its size and on-hand supply. it will try to re-arm/re-fuel arriving TFs, set arriving TFs to Min Refuel or Do Not Refuel to lighten the load.
-Port's re-arm size ability can be increased by NavSupport from an in-hex LCU.
-loaded AE ships disbanded in the port can re-arm ships, their re-load ops-points are spent separately from the port's points. if an AD was present, that ship could re-arm DDs, leaving the AEs to re-arm the BBs. each turn, tag the port's 'Reload Tenders' button to resupply them.
-arriving BB TF set to Full Refuel would've pulled more fuel than ammo, set it to Min or Tac Refuel.
-not all AE/AKE types are big enough to provide 16" shells. divide BB TFs between 16" & 14" types.

this will help, but you've got too many BBs trying to load from a small hose. can you divide the TF into 2 halves, & send one out to bombard while the 2nd re-arms in the port?
