Similar to Q-Ball, I'm play DaIronBabes Scen 30. I see the Allies get the naval version of the B-24s (PB4Y-1) into production in Nov '42, but no actual air units as reinforcements till April '43. Why the 6 months without an actual air unit available to utilize this airframe?? Yes, I can use PP to change over a PV-1 in mid-Feb '43. But shouldn't I be able to use this airframe when it comes out. It there a reason for this or WAD?? Is this similar to other scenarios??

It's been awhile since I was in that time frame of the war but IIRC the VP Catalina units convert over to VPB units that use them. Not sure if this is part of the 6mo gap though

I think that when the game was introduced it did not cost PPs to change from 2 engine LB to 4 engine LB. The PP cost was added in one of the patches. I would surmise that the data base was not changed when the exe was changed.

I see this as a positive. All too often the Allies get droves of squadrons of plane types with empty pools and sit and wait for the trickle rate of production to ry and keep up with combat losses. With these beasts when you start operating squadrons of them you actually have a pool with enough depth to sustain operations.

It's been a while but I recall that there were one or two cat squadrons that you can convert. Just look around.

I just went through them all, I think, and found just one - VP-51. I will upgrade next turn.

I think you get another cat squadron as reinforcement that come in in early 43 that can convert. It has been well over two years since I was playing that period so it is a bit foggy.
