Here is some interesting "history". Warning!! some of you old farts might get apoplexy.
There are rude words in it so don't look if you don't want to see them.
A good laugh for those who have a sense of humour. The rest needn't bother:

Well of course it was stale you ass-hat. Do you think I, a wealthy landowner, would give you fresh bread? Foolish boy. I get richer by giving you stale bread.

Methinks he fails to appreciate our ability to just have fun. We can never, EVER, convince progressives to even consider another point of view. And facts just fly waaaaaaaaay over their heads.

No, quiet whining about your bread. I lowered myself from my castle ramparts to give you bread and you should show proper appreciation.

I had "Pearls before swine" and the non casting thereof in mind.
I did not receive the contemporary progressive history classes in college, when I earned my secondary education degree (in History).

Also, I have no interest in playing with a dude who relies on cyber muscles to make his points. He could be less insulting when making them? But, he goes into cyber-roid rage quickly and that is really a bore.

My Liege, I request further that I not rely on the auspices of the castle. BTW, the bread was stale.

RR

I notice that rather than attempt to support your position with actual facts, you declare myself a bully and yourself bored, which speaks volumes about both your lack of knowledge regarding the subject and your character. As far as I am concerned, this ends my participation in this discussion.

I just went back and read how the English invaded France in 1944 and how the Americans only had one tiny beach to invade good grief. Or after WW2 the UK had to step in at Greece because we could no longer afford to help her. No wait it was the Americans who pushed for total damnation of Germany in 1919 only to realize at the last moment that if we did this it would give rise to a despot ruler......it was the British empire who declared their freedom from the Americans and we really didn't want to fight you so we hired more Germans than Americans to fight you.....it should be noted that only the Americans in 1919 pointed out that if you do this to Germany they will want revenge... France and England had a different view.....

Lol! You have been eating to much popicock mr.c. We did declare War on England for impressment and illegal boarding in 1812 remember? I'm ashamed to admit this but America didn't pay back one red cent to France after the fact. I'm talking millions... Back then. It was huge and embarrassing. Without France by god we would be a British commonwealth country. Makes me up chuck in my mouth just thinking about it.....
warspite1

Good grief

Three things: a) the anti-British stuff is getting really boring b) NO.YOU.WOULDN'T. You are not really suggesting that you had a one-time, use it or lose it shot at breaking free of the UK? c) non-payment for services rendered? Read a WWII history book. The US owes France nothing - quite the reverse.

Was that post supposed to be funny? What was the point of it?

Sorry for the delay. You asked for one volume.

Two volume set, but the first is good on the founding.

"America, The Last Best Hope" by William J. Bennett (former Secretary of Education).

http://www.amazon.com/America-Last-Best-Hope-Volumes/dp/1595551255/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1361712300&sr=1-7&keywords=william+bennett+books

Like I said. You are all cyber muscles. I did not declare you a bully. You display it by your words.
I have no interest in reciting any "actual fact" that you do not believe is true anyway.

Casting pearls before swine is an apt phrase. Along with shaking the dust off my sandles as I walk away from you.

A good one-volume book about the American Revolution is "The Glorious Cause - The American Revolution, 1763 - 1789" by Robert L. Middlekauff.
Please note that this is not the historical novel of the same name by Jeff Shaara.

Thank-you. I am actually looking for something specific to the War of Independence - its causes and the campaigns.

Are you describing a poker hand in your authentic Wyoming frontier gibberish? Most people would call that a "Full House-Aces over Eights".

Well Chickenboy and warspite, you both have just been disinvited to my BBQ bash. Orm, Wodin, Perturabo, ILS and several other's may still come. Even SLAAKMAN is invited. I would like to invite Josh, but he is, after all, DUTCH. Besides, Dutchmen are not allowed to enter America.
