Had a lot of enquiries for this one, and the last one was from RevRick; so I thought oops, better get righteous. So the Babes Guadalcanal Scenario 034 is back up on the site. It got a major facelift, thanks to Sam Natalionis, and is now compatible with his upcomming 1942, Operation SF scenario.

Still having trouble getting that pesky AI to act like we want it to, so the posted version is still H2H or PBEM only. Maybe one day we'll get the AI under control. If so, we'll post a version with a functioning basic AI file.

Anyway, it's up. And be sure to read the page summary; there's a lot of hints in it.

John -

Wonderful news! A "Well Done" to the Babes Team.

The Guad scenario is perhaps, one of the best representations of what AE can do - Air, Land and Sea . Adding the Babes Standard of Realism and Excellence (tm) will be a real crowd pleaser - and give those who are (understandably) reluctant to do a full Babes campaign the chance to take off the training wheels (I might get spanked for that... <grin>), and find out what it's all about - in a manageable bite.

Resistance is futile...

Mac

Thank you Mac Linehan.

We put a bit of work into this scenario, but for our own purposes. I think it works acceptably for stock players, as long as they obey the rules.

Making an AI is like going to Voodoo school, drinking chicken blood, and becoming very unbalanced.

Got a good start on it, but got lost in the loops. Sent the files to John, who is working with them, and I think he's got Andy Mac working on them, too.

If you have something that requires a seriously unhinged personality to understand it and make it work, then give it to your friendly, local, neighborhood, whacko buddy. In manageable bites, of course.

Matt

You need to be very unbalanced to play even stock scenarios...and Da Babes is..well...

Do we need to even say?

John-

Can we play DaBabes Guadalcanal game, but not convert the Grand Campaign to DaBabes yet.. even though I want to...I am not sure how to keep everything straight...as I have an AI and PBEM game going that is NOT DaBabes..

Sure you can. We tried to keep the Scen numbers so they won’t conflict. And we tried to to note on the Scen comments, that show up on the Scen Load screen, whether the Scen is for the Stock Map or the Ext Map.

So just dump the Scen into your SCEN folder and go to town.

The ONLY difference between scenarios is if they use the Stock Map or the Ext Map. The Babes site has a zip of the Ext Map panels and map data files that make the Ext Map work.

Download the zip. Look at the zip. Copy the zip with a new name “Stock Map Art and Data” and copy/replace your stock pwhexe.dat, pwzlink.dat, pwzone.dat files into your new zip.

Then copy/replace the stock map panels
WPEH00.bmp
WPEH01.bmp
WPEH09.bmp
WPEH15.bmp
WPEH24.bmp
WPEN00.bmp
WPEN01.bmp
WPEN09.bmp
WPEN15.bmp
WPEN24.bmp
Into the ART folder of your new zip.

Now you have an Ext Map zip and a Stock Map zip.
If you are playing Stock Map, just unzip the Stock zip into the game directory.
If you are playing Ext Map, just unzip the Ext zip into the game directory.

If you are asking about the differences between the data for one scenario and another scenario, no worries. All scenarios are completely independent and self contained. Nothing in Guadalcanal will bleed over to anything else.

Ciao. JWE
