Ok I have tried since I bought the game to add new unit types,with no success,when I change stuff and run the game it just crashes,there are two unit types unused the MINER & THE CARRIER. I have even renamed the Miner unit to a Pre-Dreadnought I have also created a new set of pre-dreadnought graphics,changed all the factor that the Miner had to what I would expect a weaker version of the Battleship unit,the game does not crash,but then again the Pre-Dreadnought unit still does not show up in game,will someone please give me instruction on HOW TO ADD NEW UNIT TYPES!!!!!!!!!

I hope the devs get behind Kirk in his efforts.

I have memories of a game called War In The Pacific which moved from being a so - so game into its latest incarnation as WITP - AE due to the continual questionaing by modders such as Kirk.

Dont look at as being your game being questioned, see it as your efforts being fine tuned.

PS As it currently stands I wont buy the game, ideas such as Kirks, Warspites et al if they get taken up might change my mind.

Yes thanks Jeffk,
I'm trying very hard to improve this game,the game is Excellent on the land campaign,but very poor Naval campaign,in no way does it resemble history,with a modding guide I know I can help fix the Naval game,if there is anyone who doubts what I say is true,just take a look at the WAR PLAN ORANGE forum,I grabbed that game by the scruff and created hundreds of new artwork,plus brand new and vastly improved scenarios.Not that this game needs that level of input,but it does still need alot of work to get it right.

Don't worry, 75%+ of the Lordz Games Studio has some background in modding games. There isn't any studio in the world that can make 'the perfect game', but generally the more modders get involved, the closer you can get.

@kirk:

So, you've got your unit in the units file and have created all the graphics and text for it, and the game doesn't crash.

When you say it 'doesn't show up in game', I'm guessing you mean you can't build it in the production panel?

The next thing I would try is to add your new unit as a starting unit in some of the scenarios, to check that it works independently of production.

Have a look in 1914.lua to see where the units are set up in 1914. Copy/paste a new line and create a few units as your new units.

Being relatively new here I dont want to sounds stupid but how do you open the 1914.lua file? Tried it looks like all garbled text.

That's strange. You should be able to open it with notepad or any text editor.
