Hi All

Merry Christmas

I have been starting as axis in Operation Barbarossa or the '41 -'45 campaign.

Since the update (Don to the Danube) my turn 1 airstikes have reaped little reward......avg 800-900 casualties where as before I was getting 3k - 4k Soviet casualties.

I have followed these http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2642052 instructions and same results.........what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

The update made it more difficult to bomb airfields by making a ceiling on how high the detection level can be through air only (level 5 instead of the level 10 max). Many people (and I am one of them) cut back on the attempts to destroy huge numbers of Soviet air through bombing and concentrate more air effort on tactical air.

I would add that as a Soviet player, I pray for huge losses on turn 1 to my airforce. They are mostly made of 1000s of really really crap planes. And although I haven't had a go with the new patch, previously, they would not autoupgrade until they were below 50%, and then often not if there were 'sufficient' planes of type in the pool. So without the germans thoughfully taking thousands of biplanes out of the game, it can cost more than a hundred AP to upgrade all those groups.

800-900 are a little bit low, around 2000 should still be doable. But it is certainly true that these massive bombings on turn 1 are not that useful. Most planes you destroy are these old planes that are not a threat to the Luftwaffe anyway.
