So if I have Heavy Industry show as :6000 (70,000), what does that mean? Can I shut down so HI factories to reduce strain on resources?

Does the # in the () mean the same for all line items in the industry section? If have (90,000) in armaments does that mean I can shut those down for a bit, because I have a large surplus?

Thanks

You must have excess of HI, because Japan need to stockpile as much of HI points as possible. HI points are used to build ships, airplanes, guns, vehicles. In 1944 and 1945 you're going to need your stockpiled HI...

Not to mention the pilot tax every month.

Believe me: there should be no such a phrase as "excess of HI" in your dictionary if you're a Japanese fan boy...

Ok so you're saying I should just leave the HI factories alone because I'll need that HI pool later?

Yes. Never shut down HI.

Playing against human players in PBEM, the consensus is that one needs well north of 1MM HI going into 1944 in order to 'bank' against Allied offensives in the late war. With careful saving this can be 2-3MM. 70,000 is scarcely one months' reserve by most standards.

I'd encourage you to see what you can shut down or build up to maximize your HI savings. You certainly don't want to shut down any HI production.

Here are my goals. End of:

1942: 700k
1943: 1.9 million
1944: 3 million

See my AAR for a discussion of it and how I plan on getting there. Should be last page or second to last page.

Well, I am close to Mike in my game, but I didn't know what in the hell I was doing early on. I know better now. I should break 2 million by the end of 1944 and my fuel runs out. It should keep me going until March 1946 with adequate budgeting. Yeah, Ryan, I am talking about our game.

Also in Scen2 but Scen1 as well, Supply is a really, really major concern in 44. If your supply stockpile does not increase each month in 42-43 then you will be helpless in 44, not to mention 45. If you shutdown HI then you also shut down your major source of supply.
