The rulebook says that defensive reserves will not activate at initial odds of less than 1:2

Does this 1:2 determination include defensive terrain and/or forts or not. As I am seeing lots of reserves activating at initial odds of less than 1:2 if these modifiers are included.

Just checking this is WAD.

Also do units that activate in reserve suffer the usual attritional losses, fatigue, etc normally associated with movement?

In my game V Pelton I am seeing reserves whizzing around all over the place. It would seem wrong if they are not suffering the normal motion penalties etc. Just checking.

TIA

Looking for a life line from 2by3?

Things just not going as planned?

Going by the battle results and not words

"Currently giving Pelton and his team a major ass whipping..... "

Its the other way around in game.

Hoping they make a specail patch to help you out?

They suffer loses ect ect as all units do.

High moral units with great leaders react to about every battle. In other words with the right set-up GHC can get 100% reactions. Panzer and mot unit have 40+ MP's.

They win a battle there is a chance morale goes up. This tactic is nothing new to the game.

Thers no atrition loses because they are not in the front, atrition from moving 2 to 5 Mps is about zero. That data is on forums some plase.

The reserves recieve replasements every turn as they are not in the front, so toe will be above 90% turn after turn. MP's above 40 turn after turn.

As I can see from the code on map defensive unit can get committed if estimated (modified) CV of defender is more than 1/10 of attacker's (modified) CV. Attacker's on map unit can react if defender's estimated (modified) CV is more than 1/4 of attacker's (modified) CV. So it could be that manual is not consistent here.

Estimation includes all factors, including possible leader's and other rolls, which could be resolved different in the battle.

Yes, they should pay all movement costs.

Thanks Pavel

Pelton there is no need to get hysterical. I am merely checking things are WAD and I seek clarification of the rules. Nothing more. Your support staff have certainly improved reserve activation for you. But it will make no significant difference to the end result of the game. Enjoy.

Nice info I also thought it was 1 to 2.

So in some cases I have to many men at the front.

The reserve mode activation tactics are old news for poeple with 42+ exp defending as GHC. Its not that hard to get 100% commitment per battle when there are 9 to 12 units with 40+ Mp's, high morale, 7+ leaders and a 5 CV base line per regiment. They have each about a 33% chance. So your going to more then likely get 3 - 4 per battle. 15 base cv in a lvl 3 fort is 45. In many cases duobling what was in the hex. So what was a 50 CV hex becomes 95. So what looked like a good attack (150 attacking CV vs 50 3 to1 odds baseline) with 6 1942 infantry Corp, 24 SU's and 3 rifle divisions is a slaughter 150 attacking Cv vs 95 1.5 to 1 odds baseline).

What I am doing different has nothing to do with regiment reserve reactions. Its a counter to soaking attacks. Thats why in many case (82%) even if you bomb 3 to 5 times, attack 2 times with divisions (6-9)stacks and then 1 or 2 more attacks using Corp (2-6) the same result is achieved.

6-7 to 1 lose ratio, morale goes up and the hex is held. Reserve units are not in the front and are back to almost full strength the next turn. Front line units pull back and fresh units to the front.

@ Pelton and Michael. I don't know about the rest of the board, but I hold both of you in high esteem as far as knowledge of the game, tactics, etc. Both of you would kick my butt like there is no tomorrow with either side and I have no issues admitting that.

Having said that, can we tone down the ego a bit please? Both of you will undoubtedly have an upper hand on the other as the fortunes of war change with time and tactics evolve. Stupid stuff in signatures, talk of blood running all over, etc is not necessary to have a good quality match between you two. If you guys want to toss barbs at each other, then do it in PMs and spare the rest of us who are trying to learn how this far from usual game will play out.

Please keep the focus here on tech support issues. I link these threads when doing bug reports and I can assure you that bugs will get fixed faster if Gary does not have to read through a lot of extraneous banter. That belongs in another forum. Thanks.

In our e-mails and PM's we are friendly and see the forums as a RP kinda thing. nothing personal.

MT is a very nice guy in general and we have shared info for a long time.

Sure we will needle each other on the forums, but its mostly for fun. Tring to get TV ratings up heheheh
