Hello all,

I have had my eye on two wargame series for a while now, and, after weakening, am thinking of making some purchases. However, before rashly rushing off and possibly wasting money, I will throw out my questions to the gamers here.

The two games in question are;

Panzer by GMT http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/85769/panzer-second-edition

And Combat Commander: Europe and Pacific http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/21050/combat-commander-europe and
http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/28181/combat-commander-pacific

My first question is for people that have played Panzer; Is it worth the purchase? How does it stack up against PanzerBlitz (one of my favourite games)? And are the expansions necessary?

The second questions I have are in regards to Combat Commander; It looks like a fun game, but how does the card driven system work? Does the player have any real control over their battle plan with the card system? And which of these is the better of the two out of Europe and Pacific? Or is it just a question of which theatre a person prefers?

Any help on the two above games is appreciated.

I have the CC series. I'm a big fan of them. I really enjoyed the early Squad Leader from AH but never really got into ASL.

IMO, the card system works very well, better than you can imagine. Plus the "ergonomics" of the game are also very good. The hexes are large and im my games the counter handling is well managed. Can't say enough good things about the game.

I have all the modules, but I've only played the Russian front one. I hear they they are essentailly non interchangeable.

Go to Boardgamegeek they usually have a bunch of didn't write ups especially on the more popular games.

Sorry I must have had a senior moment. I didn't read the links correctly.

And we all saw that moment.

I'd go for Panzer...reviews are superb..expansions look real good. CC game can divide opinion where as Panzer doesn't.

There is a great review on Panzer at Armchair General.

Finally Panzer is much better solo.
