Stalingrad sneak peeks

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Very nice Jamm. I assume these are some of the factories? Did you have to create your own "shapes" to do this?

And will we need SOS units to play it properly?

Thanks for doing this.

Hey Gerry,
Mostly scans with a ton of touchups and edits
I've tried a lot of different things so far, and am still experimenting as to what works best.

I haven't actually got to any scenario designs yet, but they will initially be designed with ATB units.

I'm showing this pic with hexgrid to give an idea of scale

Looks beautiful. Imagine a campaign system working with that map!

If I remember the map correctly those are some extra columns on the left-hand side? I would like those left on as a placeholder for units that need to be placed in scenarios. Currently the system for placing units often covers most of the map so really interferes with planning and navigating the map.

Yes, a campaign will be a must.
There's no placeholders on the map though.
The little room left over on the sides will just be the tabletop, but that graphic can be changed as well.

Oh WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this alone now means I'm going to buy and sorely regret giving away my newsletter code!!

Is the map historical? Whats your reference? Looks similar to either red barricades or the ATS Stalingrad game.

Island of Fire by Jason Mark is a great book if your doing the Barrikady Factory attack by the Pioneers.

Thanks for the encouraging words Wodin.
Yes the map is a conversion of Red Barricades and it's starting to come together nicely.
Here's the latest work.
All the major factories in place, the paved road grid and a lot of ground work

Perfect..I see the Kommissar house and the oil tanks, I recognise the factories and the street just in front of the factories where alot of action took place..are trenches and cratered landscape in game? If so it needs some in the space between the River and the Factories. Also I notice the rubble overspill has gone..can you have rubble terrain? Think it's important in between the factories to hinder movement and the few Tanks the Germans had.

Looks great so far..

Yes, there will be rubble. Here is a pic.
Stone and wood rubble will be implemented with effects.
The brown patches is where some wooden rubble will be placed.
You can also see the stone walls which also have terrain effects.
Entrenchments can be added as per scenario design.
I'm also going to add a lot of the shellholes but they will only be window dressing.

And here's a pic overlaying the gap scenario to give an idea of scale.
I still have to clear up the hex overlay and make it sharper.

Looks great! I'll try to get a little tool together this week that makes the .BYT files for the giant sized maps.
