Status: offline 		I've a simple question, how does one get a ship "into" an ARD? It doesn't seem to show up as an option when looking through the "manage ships under repair" tab. Thoughts? Hal

Status: offline 		Thanks rejopel, but just to make sure; the ship to be repaired (flotation damage) is put into the "repair ship" mode under the "Repair Allocation" column and the ship will automatically "go into" the ARD if it is within the size limits? So I have that right? Hal

Status: offline 		If you've got the repair ship option available and it doesn't show the # next to the repair time- the flotation damage will be fixed (the ship will fit)

I believe pierside repair is using all available repair ships, including ARD.

Status: offline 		Repair ships add to pierside repair op points but if you want to repair major damage that can be repaired by a repair ship (e.g. float damage via ARD, small craft repair via AG/AR) then you need to assign it to repair ship.

Status: offline 		I am not having any luck. I have the ARD AFDB-1 at Hilo with the BB Colorado. The ARD is disbanded and has been sitting there for a turn. I do not have the option to repair the Colorado using repair ship nor do I see any way to load the Colorado onto the ARD.

Status: offline 		in the DBB_B game, AFDB-1 has a capacity of 18k tons, too small to do any work for BB Colorado (34.5k tons). the USN gets ABSD-type ARDs w/ a 55k ton capacity.

anyhow, there's no way to load a specific ship into an ARD, it's up to the game-engine, tho' you can manipulate it w/ the repair-type & priority options.

Status: offline 		If the ARD is in a TF, try disbanding it. But certainly it is big enough to take anything the USN has at that time...

Wow! Trying to get information on the AFDB-1 is difficult. A lot of sites mix it with the ABSD-1.

Anyway, here is a picture of the AFDB-1 with the Wisconsin inside. The Wisconsin was about 53,000 tons.

Status: offline 		Is the ARD fully repaired itself? One quirk I've noticed with AR (repair ships) is that their not available to repair other ships until their fully repaired (no sys damage) themselves.

The Colorado has 35 flotation damage and the destroyer only System. Based on previous comments I was under the impression the repair ship option should come up even if it won't completely repair the data.

More information. The ARD had 1 system point of damage. After eight days of repairing the ARD is free of damage and I now have the repair ship option of 111#. I assume based on your comments it is because the AFDB won't repair the engine damage (3 points) and I need a regular AR for that, or a ship yard.

Status: offline 		Sounds about right- after a couple of days you should be able to tell once the float damage starts to drop down. Why do you have the ARD based at Hilo though? You're nearly at Pearl- and the ARD would have repaired much faster there.

Just experimenting. The ARD was headed for Auckland and the Colorado for Alameda when I saw the thread.

You're set now. ARDs won't work if damaged. ARDs won't repair engine damage; only float. An AR will repair 3 points of engine damage. The "repair ship" option will appear whether the ARD or the AR is being used, but the code won't give you "repair ship" if only non-float damage is present and there is only an ARD present.

One last question. I was looking through the manual it says in part " An undamaged repair ship can repair a maximum of x number of points....." but it doesn't say it has to be completely damage free to repair. I could have sworn somewhere in the manual it said that a support ship needed less than 30% damage to perform it's function but I can't find it. Anyone know where to look?

That's because they are the same thing. ABSD-1 was re-classified as AFDB-1 in 1946.
