Here is the situation:
1. 1944, Essex Class CV.
2. The three units are the 36 fighter, 36 DB and 18 TB, for a total of 90.
3. Set up to do a CV attack and none of my planes fly.
4. I was within range, his TFs had been spotted (DL for several turns), all air units set to their proper roles.
5. His CV counter-attacked mine, and NO CAP fly and I did not attack his CV or other TF in the area.
6. When I looked at the CV it had stacking of 90/144!
I could not figure it out. Finally, fly off the 18 unit to a base and the CV set itself back to 72 (36+36).

The only thing I can think of is the 18 unit caused the other two units to double in count (two 36 units doubled is 144).

Anyone have any idea why this happened?

Also, the turn prior when reviewing the set up, the 36 fighter group had all of their pilots on "group reserve" which I did not set.

You're probably using plane model that is not carrier capable.

Probably the wrong model Corsair on your CVs.

It was not that ... good thought, something I learned earlier ...

I am using the Hellcats right this sec on that CV. Thanks for the thoughts.

Anyone else?

Maybe just a glitch........

Still, Puhis response looks very sound KPAX. I would have thought along the same lines.

IIRC non CV capable planes quadruple stacking cost. 18*4 + 72 =144

I would guess it was the 18 plane unit that caused the overstack

Are you sure these 18plane group consisted of CV capable planes? Check the squadron screen and see if it states 'Carrier capable' next to
the plane type.

PM me a save of the prior turn with password. I can take a look if you like. Nothing like lookng at the prior turns orders to sort out the issue.

Ok, I think I may know what is was ... and of course, it would be silly .....

My pilots were in group reserve for some odd reason. I never put them in reserve. I brought them all out of group reserve and they had a single day delay .....

Yepper, that has got to be it, why they did not fly.

My guess is that is why they doubled the planes. They counted as pilots in reserve and game out of reserve and that caused a double. That does not seem right/fair, but that is probably it ....

Does that sound like a reason?

It would more likely be aircraft rather than pilots causing the problem.

Plus its likely to be the Fighters if no CAP flew, no escort would cause your attack aircraft to stay at home.
