Last but not least, why is Matrix $2 more expensive than Slitherine for the same games? Is there some hidden advantage to a Matrix download that is worth the extra money?

Can you let me know when you checked this? As of yesterday this should not be the case any more.

The reason it used to happen is that until yesterday we did not have a way to grab prices from the Plimus system so we had to manually specify a price in different currencies and this would be based on the exchange rate on the day it was set up. The number of prices made it impossible to keep them updated except for a couple of times a year so sometimes the exchange rate changes meant there were discrepancies.

As of yesterday we completed a system to grab prices from Plimus so they should now be an exact match between Slitherine and Matrix. If you spot a difference let us know as its likely to be a bug. We'd need to know exactly which product pages we were comparing and a link to the pages in question would be useful.

Thanks!

As of this minute:

Close Combat Panthers in the Fog: Slitherine 39.99, Matrix 40.99 so it is now $1 difference.

Close Combar Watch on the Rein: Slitherine 25.99, Matrix 26.99 again a dollar difference which is a change from a few hours ago...

So it is 50% there Iain

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/363/details/Close.Combat.-.Wacht.am.Rhein.

http://www.slitherine.com/games/cc_war_pc

That is one example. All games have the difference though.

I just checked the links and all looks fine. Make sure you are comparing the right currencies.

Both are showing $25.99 USD for me and both are showing $26.99 AUD

$1 difference between Aus and US? Which rates calculator are you using Iain? Half the time now the Australian dollar is worth more than the US dollar. Hence why I didn't even think of checking to see which currency it was using...

As an example http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert/?Amount=26.99&From=AUD&To=USD

Actually, that justifies my initial complaint; I am paying almost $2 more than a US customer

Well at lest we agree the prices are the same on both sites now :)

This issue is a completely different one and entirely down to the banking system. The rate you quote is a mid rate not an actual rate anyone gets. It also does not include the transaction fees the bank charges. If you get the Australian banking system to waive its fees you can save the $1! :)

Australians are just sheep now - the ethos of a fair go, anti-establishment/authority of the past is dead replaced by ... (too political on second thought)

I just wanted to add that on several occasions I have purchased games form Slitherine as they were cheaper (infinite % though) than here at the Matrix store. I mentioned it before but got no response, so from now on I always check both places before buying.

There did used to be minor differences due to fluctuations in exchange rate. That no longer exists as we grab the prices daily. No need to check any more!

OK Thanks.

The only thing that really bothered me about having to purchase at either place was that it makes it impossible to register all your games in the same locations. Some here at Matrix and other at Sliterine. Would be so nice if we were able to have the all under the same site.

Regardless, thanks for clearing up the need to check both places for prices now.

It is all the fault of the politician you hate most.
