I've noticed that when advancing enemy's take my entrenched hexes the hex still remains with entrenchments intact. This seems not very fair since entrenchments really are build with one defensive perimeter facing in mind. Shouldn't the entrenchments go away the first time a enemy unit enters the hex?

Another question is on research, how long after research is completed does the new technology take effect? Same turn?

I need Lukas or Dave to confirm this, but as I recall:

Trench levels deteriorate slowly over time.

The techs that need manual updating of course only when you upgraded the appropriate troops, the other techs within the turn they are completed, they are available.

If the entrenchment is higher than level 1 (barbed wire or better) it will decrease -1 level upon capture.

We decided removing it entirely is too harsh, because recapturing a hex you just lost would mean having to redo all entrenchment. Also, an area that saw combat was often heavily damaged with shell craters and rubble everywhere. This made (counter) attacks on the same area more difficult, which is represented by never dropping the entrenchment below level 1 on capture.
