HPS Squad Battles First World war

Post by wodin »

To those who just bought Commander..a good game to compliment it is the new HPS release. Squad Battles First world War. I will get it at some point and give it a good makeover like I did with RV and AotR.

Interesting, doesn't seem to show up in the actual store (Either HPS or Tiller Software) for purchase. Maybe a future release? Seems unclear. Your link goes to Tillersoftware page rather than HPS, but even at Tiller when you call up squad battle games it is not listed. Perpas a page made for the next release. I also didn't see anything on the site about coming soon.

Great concept and idea, it is just HPS' and Tiller games make my eyes bleed. They are butt ugly.

At the JTS website click on the "Store" panel on the left and it will bring up where you can order this title. Think they don't have the front page updated with the release info just yet.

Sold through the Tiller site, not HPS, as all newer squad battle titles are.

+1

Terrain features like barbed wire & obstacles as over-sized counters? [8|]

...

But to their credit, the 3D in recent games is fairly decent.

Looks like you managed to find the game before it was officially posted. Yesterday morning it wasn't there but as you note, it is now in the store and listed with the new releases. While I don't like to buy download only games, I may decide to give this a try. Thanks for the posting.

You mean there's a new squad battles game?

I thought he just kept releasing the same one since 1990 with the unit names and colours changed.

Just because the same engine is used, it doesn't mean that it's the same game. I'm in process of reading 50 page game notes and I'm pretty sure that they put a lot of work into research.
And there are a few new features including ability to set up a creeping barrage.

Though taking in account that I'd have to spend lots of time looking at its graphics, I can't see myself paying more than 25PLN for it (25$ if I was American).

In that case I'd indeed consider it worth 39,99PLN. Haha.

I wonder if the sound effects are any better than their other squad games?
