Can't Re-Arm BB Colorado - 11/16/2012 12:15:10 AM

Status: offline 		I have the BB Colorado in a task force in Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is currently a port of size 8 ( 318k supply and 764k fuel ) but I cannot get it's 16 inch guns rearmed.

When I try I get this message: cannot fully rearm due to ops limits

Can someone explain this to me? What op limits?

Status: offline 		A ship has ops points each day. Mostly used for refueling/rearming in that case. I guess your ship was busy with refueling. Just try again tomorrow :)

When I try it each time after the first time, it doesn't show any ops points being used.

I do have 27 ships in the shipyard doing refits and 73,300 tons of ships docked.

It's a slightly modified Da Babes.

The device I cannot load is the 16 in/45 Mk 5 gun. Colorado is totally empty of ammo. And Pearl Harbor has 624 naval support.

Also I am still at version 1.0.6.1108m2 (that is the LAST version where I can get more pilots for a squadron than their full strength so i can rotate pilots in and out of squadrons without shorting the squadron of pilots)

reArmCost = 2240 * 2 = 4480

So, Port >7 should do it without any NS. (p109)
port rearm levels
0=0,
1=15,
2=25,
3=40
4=110,
5=300,
6=700,
7=5500,
8=6000,
9=6500,
10= 9999

I don't know what the individual shipOp's limit is (only MichaelM & devs know that). So, it isn't a port thing unless the ship is taking on fuel or using its Op's in another way... The other thing to consider is the Ammo needed...Does this mod have a larger Ammo fill for this gun ?

Otherwise, this is a mystery cause the reArmCost isn't that much for this device.

Status: offline 		The message you are getting usually means that the port has exceeded its ops limits. Each port can only service a certain number of ships per day - obviously a lrger port can service a larger number of ships. If you have 73,300 tons of shipping dicked it could be that the port is using up its ops points unloading cargo from other vessels.

Status: offline 		Yes the mod does have a larger ammo fill for the gun. When I used the 1.7.11.20 version it partially loaded the ship.

However, then that will change the way I deal with pilot rotation to my squadrons. Before I could have the squadron full (25 + 8 reserve pilots) and still select veterans I want to rotate in the squadron and be able to release the squadron pilots to the reserve pool as their replacements come in so I'm never understrength with my squadron. What do people do now? Also, if I remember right I couldn't get pilots for carrier groups while they were at sea.

Therefore my analysis is correct. Larger ammo load and gun effect in mods have not been calibrated to the official and pre-official patches. It would be nice if Michael told the modders what this equation is...

Status: online 		Rearming was based on being able to FULLY reload a weapon slot. Thus a large weapon that had no ammo often could NOT be loaded because the rearm points required exceed the ops level (1000) of the ship.
More recent betas have addressed this by allowing partial reloads up to the 1000 ops points of the ship. So may take a couple of days to rearm.

Even in standard scenario, it is possible to get into a situation where you can't fully rearm the big Japanese BBs even in Osaka/Tokyo if they have no ammo left in the big guns.

Many thanks for this Michael and Damian; I was aware of this problem with some of my mod scenarios, which is why I adopted the ad-hoc solution in the newer versions of splitting the guns into 3 or 4 groups of 3 (ie 1 device slot per turret). Your changes of course make this redundant, so thank you again.

When to we get an icon which shows an Admiral's boot coming into swift contact with a Supply Officer's butt as an override. I would imagine that there are going to be in the game, as there undoubtedly were in history, moments when such things had to happen. I can just hear it:
"Well, Admiral Halsey, your little battleship is just going to have to wait its turn. There are several supply ships with vital stuff, like the typing paper, the carbon paper, toilet paper,and Captain's new chairs for headquarters, the necessary accoutrements for the Officer's Mess - you know, the lumber for the old bar just did not match the tables. And then there are the new winter uniforms for the nurses here at the hospital in Honolulu which simply must be unloaded. Then, when we get that done, we can get the dock gang to move the pallets of new lunch trays and spare parts for the base announcing system from in front of your ammunition. So, you're just going to have to wait!"
