....while I consider purchasing tonight:)

1) How much time does a turn represent?

2) When the AI takes a turn any rough estimate on how long it takes to process?

3) Any diplomacy included? If so, to what degree?

4) I think I know this answer, but are specific casualties tracked or just "strength points" and such?

1 week for the first 5 turns of 1914, in order to slow down the events during the start of the war. After that 2 weeks per turn.

Hard to answer. Fast on my machine but it's a very good one. AI optimising and caching has got a lot of attention so it should be quite fast on any decent machine.

Just declare war & player actions affecting the "alignment" of nations toward either side.

Strength points only. Translating it into "real" numbers might be interesting to do, but hasn't been our focus right now :)

Turns are 2 weeks. In my Campaign 1917 game turn 11 for the AI took 2 minutes and 11 seconds. I record the turn to video so that it's easier to take screenshots. Diplomacy shows your allies, enemies, and neutral nations. It also shows how they feel about you. You can declare war on neutrals. In the management screen it shows the total kills and casualties for each category of units i.e. ground, artillery, air force, etc...

Edit 1 week turns until turn 5 for 1914, forgot about this been playing 1917 too much. :)

AI took 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

A little longer than my usual patience for waiting for the computer to think....but likely not a deal breaker. If that is at turn 11, does anybody have any time estimates towards the end of the game?

I should have mentioned this is the 1917 Campaign, so there is a lot going on. This campaign is about 46 turns total I believe.

I bet....just not sure how much patience I have:) Would love to hear though if the times gradually increase or do they still consistent at the 2 minute range.

1917 is probably the biggest scenario there (1918 has russia & romania already out of the war). So it shouldn't get much longer than that.

The time is to watch the AI make its moves and attacks. Almost none of the time is waiting.

Good clarification, that makes a difference.

Is there any kind of replay for PBEM games?

At the beginning of your turn it replays your opponents turn. I don't see any other way of replaying a PBEM turn though.

Just to elaborate on a couple of points, the game does track manpower for each nation and each unit has a manpower cost, so while units are rated in strength points, they also very much have an impact as far as the cost to raise them and replace casualties. This eventually affects your economy and losses will affect your national morale as well. There's a balancing act required to both have enough forces to cover the fronts you need to cover, replace losses, research new techs, recruit new units, etc. It can be easy to get in trouble if you are not careful and over-build or over-focus in one area or another.

Also, the AI is instantaneous for me. I finish my turn and watch it do its turn, no wait while it's thinking.

Regards,

- Erik
