LaGG-3 does not upgrade to LaGG-3 '29 Series'. From the historical description and from the end-start date relation in data files I assume this can be a bug.

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say. Just in case factory upgrades has nothing to do with actual group upgrades. Factory setup is intentional and works as designed.

In realworld production was split/separated in 1942, the Gorky facs switched to La-5 (continuing through La-5F/-FN and ending up in the La-7 while the Taganrog factory (later moved to Tbilisi) continued LaGG-3 production and development until 1944, when it switched to Yak-3 production.
Such a split is not possible, the only way to get it simulated is to create a duplicate LaGG-3 specifically designed for the Taganrog factory with special upgradepaths.
