Found a new one for me, 1940 Japanese movie Burning Sky. I've seen some of these air combat scenes in some early hollywood WWII movies and in some documentaries. Now I know where those clips came from. If anyone knows where I can see this whole film please let me know.

If you like Nates or Sallys or even Perrys this movie is for you.

Five minute clip:

Edited nine minute clip:

Holy c****, those Ki-27s and Ki-10s sure are nimble. Love the air combat scenes.

Hi all,

Very nice - thanks for sharing!

BTW, the production is up to standard with Hollywood at that time - incredible!

Pretty competent film making. Really nice to see a KI10 in flight. Amazing roll rate for both fighters.

A nice backhanded comment, especially as the film industries in many Nations were in advance of Hollywood in this era, look at the crappy standards in films such as "Air Force" and "Test Pilot" Of course the japanese had a live war going to allow for more life like scenes.

hooray for independent film..

need more like uwe boll

for variety, if anything else

a 1930s scenario would be pretty fun

gloster gladiators, ki-10s, i-15s

and SB-2, Ki-48 are faster than the fighters.. hehehe

"Crappy standards" ? LOL.
1939 - The Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Gone with the Wind
1940 - The Great Dictator, The Grapes of Wrath, Fantasia, Pinocchio
1941 - Citizen Kane, The Maltese Falcon

Please list any movies from other Nations, especially Australia, that are "in advance" of those I listed above.

I'll start trawling the archives of Great Britain, Germany, France & Russia for starters.

I doubt Oz with a population of only 5mill would ratehighly but would include On Our Selection, The Sentimental Bloke, In the wake of the Bounty, Seven Little Australians.

Some British exzmples would be Goodbye Mr Chips, The 4 Feathers,The Lady Vanishes.

The great and might USA is far from being the leaders,in this case picking up Directors, Actors and Producers from all of the countries of the world.

You meant to say great and "mighty" USA

Forget the films. Seriously, this morning I was sitting on the can taking my daily constitutional and the thought came to me that I have been all over the world and have yet to see better toilet paper than that which is produced in the USA...

Top that sukazz!
