My wife hates spiders.

There was a spider near the corner of a wall in our bedroom. She attacked the spider with a fly swatter. And missed. The spider dropped to the floor and with a bit of a shriek she jumped backwards from where the spider had dropped (she was bare-footed).

I laughed and said she swings like a girl.

Two observations:

1. I'm much bigger than a spider.
2. She swings like Babe Ruth when she's mad.

I would crush her like a peach, if I were you.

The spider I mean.

You blew it! You should have lept to her defense, siezed the swatter, made short work of the eight-legged menace..., and enjoyed the rewards of the rescued maiden. Sir Laughs-a-lot never scores...

I get several of those calls - usually with a shriek from the master bathroom. I've got to where when I hear that, I pick up our industrial size fly swatter, and put on my heavy slippers - cause I know it's some kind of critter.

If you insist on laughing at your wife, I suggest you develop your "duck" reflex a bit more.  Me?  I can't duck for sh__ anymore so I don't laugh (while she is within striking distance).

A few weeks ago, I set a mouse trap in the basement. It caught a mouse. My wife is uncomfortable enough with a dead mouse in a trap but the noise that came from the basement when she found a snake in our basement trying to eat the dead mouse that was in the mousetrap. Needless to say, I told the snake that he had to go, and I had the sense to make no comments of a sarcastic nature to my wife. The mouse is gone. the snake is gone and my marriage is intact....

<big cheese eating grin>

The nice thing about any "disagreement" is the making up part.

I got lucky and found myself a good woman who realizes that us guys never "quite" grow up.

Girl of the Prairie does all the critterizing at Chez Moose. Spiders get carefully picked up and taken outside. Other bugs get to fail man overboard drill in the swirling water. Mice? She sets traps and empties them when the cat is lazy. Snakes are rare up here, and they are the one animal that creep me right out to the point of regressing evolutionarily (I look for a tree), but she'll redirect them elsewhere without a problem.

On our first date she told me one of her jobs on the farm, where they ran a contract farrowing operation, was to castrate the boar pigglets. So spiders are a snoozer.

We're all glad that One-Eye's wife didn't choose that course of action. Castrating the piglets, figuratively speaking.

You have to be married to truly understand it. Single guys may comprehend it but to understand it in your bones is something else....
