Click the "resize" setting on and off like three times, and then a text box will appear that allows you to set the size, up the maximum number of planes that can be carried on that particular ship.

The manual doesn't say quite what is needed for a group to resize on a ship. [:)] In fact it can be quite confusing to do this because the air group often states 'No resize allowed.'

As the post states above more or less, click on this text. It will change to 'resize to fit ship.' If you leave it in this state it may resize at any moment when at a friendly base to 'fit' the remaining capacity of the CV/CVE/CS/AV/BB/CA/CL/CM.

If you would like to choose the number of planes for the group yourself, click this again and it will go back to saying 'No resize allowed.' Then click it again, ([;)] not intuitive at all) at which point it will change to allow you to resize to a number of planes you choose. Make sure you keep it at the base during the next turn if you want this to happen during the next turn.

The group should then resize and you can fill it with pilots.

Some groups cannot resize manually, and will say 'resizing on [date] to [xx] planes.' Occasionally you may resize those groups later after their set resizing though, as with the KB groups.

there's 'pert strict limitations on what you can do w/ carrier groups, see Nomad's post #2 in this thread:
tm.asp?m=2412310
ime resizes can only take place at a well-supplied port.

Could somebody post a screen shot of this 'resize' button? Can't seem to see it anywhere..looking at CVL air groups that appear to meet conditions?

Thanks.

It's not actually a button. It's yellow text next to the squadron size in the upper left hand corner of the screen, reading "Changing to X at [date]", or "No resize allowed", or "Resize to fit ship". Click on the text to change it.

Ok thanks, got it now. So after the resize happens (next turn?), I'll have to add more pilots or?
