ORIGINAL: DD696 Then, 2 days later on the 22nd, the Jap AI tried it again.... 4 CV's, 2 BB's, 4 CA's with 5-6 DD's ran into Kavieng once again to find 2 fast BB's, 4 CA's and 6 DD's to engage in a surface fight. One CV takes some damage and a few surface ships banged up a bit. Throughout the day the air strikes take place with the result of Yorktown beat up pretty bad and Enterprise with moderate damage. However, all 4 Jap CV's were left with heavy smoke obscuring them (most of them had fuel/ammo explosions). So, all morning I've been pondering whether or not to let the AI get banged up so bad again, and have decided to go back and replay the 21st and withdraw my ships and let their carriers live to fight another day. I thoroughly enjoyed the first "Midway", but the 2nd is a bit too much. Jmalter: no, there was no warning of either carrier force sortie even tho each of my carrier's had 20% of the DB's allocated to search and were one hex NW of Kavieng. First notice was when they sortied into Kavieng harbor to attack my surface and amphibious forces, which of course is just pure foolishness on the AI's part. Wretched excess?? I always said a person can't have too many corvettes, altho I am beginning to think that I may be close to some point of excess with a 60, 62, 64 coupe, 67 convertible, 86, 06 coupe and a 09 Z06. Keeps life fun, along with this game! I would be more than happy to drive over near Savannah (I know I can get Close to your area!) and help you relieve yourself from some of the worry about the excess.... like the little '67 model, perhaps. I would consider it, of course, a part of supporting the ministry.
