Does anyone have ATG running on Windows 8 Preview release? Windows 8 releases October 26 and I'm planning on making the upgrade from Windows 7. I'd like to know that it isn't going to adversely affect Advance Tactics Gold.

Can't say. I never even made the jump to Windows 7. Too much bad press.

You can always use virtual machine with Win XP. Didn't test but it should work.

You must be thinking of Windows Vista as Windows 7 got very good press.

I recall some but not a lot of bad press on 7. Mostly one off stuff , things that seemed to only happen to a couple people. I bought it when I got my new machine. Ya ever one hated Vista LOL.

My experience with Win 7 has been great. It's a huge improvement over XP. It still has the Vista legacy issue of "compatability view" files but it's something that I can work around.

Well, if you can spare $40 you might want to get a copy and hold on to it as Windows 8 Pro (download) is selling for that price at least through the end of January 2013. That is a huge discount compared to what Windows 7 Pro cost ($199 I believe). A boxed version for Windows 8 Pro is selling for $70.

I've upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro on my desktop machine. I'm happy to report that Advanced Tactics Gold appears to be working just fine.
