Got to get this off before it's "War And Peace"

I want to say hi!

HI!

And get some thoughts out.

Its a hellva thing ya'll are doing and i appreciate it.

The map is great. a discovery experience in itself.
I see the country in a perspective not shown in book maps.
noticed the importance of the valadai hills right off.

board / sim games allow me to me to use the best video card made. the brain.

I likes alot.

a learning experience at many levels... /toe/movement/combat/supply /etc.

asking myself how is the world modeled? what can i control? What info/variables can be gleamed?

accessing your own and the enemys capability.

move? or attack then move? etc.

i bet the ostkampfers creating this have some really nice reference material.

sims should be part of schooling for the public system / home schooling.....learning.

One week before 7th Fallschirmjager was to withdraw it just reapeared in the west. Was not involved in any combat the week before. Then it withdrew the next week as ordered.

Jumped right in to it. 41-45.

GHC up to the fall rasputitsa started over, GHC up to the spring rasputitsa started over, GHC third

times a charm .....nope..... The patch to be released soon has me in a hold pattern since iam

guessing i will have to start over. lol

July 2 '42

Me

Men 1.6m
killed 314K
captured 13k
disabled 1.3m

Soviet

Men 3.9m
killed 794k
captured 1.5m
disabled 1.6m

not the best stats i guess, yet, we are all having a good time, doing a little hunting and really

enjoying the Russian countryside.

the 13k worries me more than anything.

Did 2 inf div attack against 2 inf. combat on highest detail, pause on a low number , went to bed and when i woke up over 7 hours later battle was still being fought.

lots of detail.... there seems to be something really going on in the battles and cv/dv/movement.

Was never ground attacked by sovs beforewinter. Still...... combat at corp level. Are counterattacks

happening in my attacks? feels more like '42 than '41.

too many German arty functioning in 1st winter? (during the breakdown)?

Only lost 1 unit a sp gun company when 1st Panzer had to retreat.

in the third----Got the ai to fall for "wounded duck". made parts of my line weak to have attack

occur where I had units behind the line waiting.

in the 2nd --- sov ai did a nice inner and outer pincers movement on me. like the mouth of the

creature in Alien. lol

like the splitting of div. ............ screening actions ala Balcke!

Turned off escort for recon. Thinking that theyd have better chances to sneak through.
losses did drop. dont know if that is modeled or just a fluke.

Thinking maybe smaller numbers at a time attacking airfields may have better chance to enflict

higher damage. small damage as is.

historical forums should have sticky of historical dates/oob/etc/events , not just to have exact

dates but as a reference to each other, of the sim being covered.

like to see the enemie's unit's army/front /leaders as per %fow.

Does mud/snow weather affect aircraft?

Is it the same ai , or sometimes is it more aggressive , conservative , more taking cities, than

destruction of enemy forces?

Rereading "The Battle For Moscow" by Colonel Albert Seaton.

Very interesting happenings from the HQ to the private. Covers up to end of Sov winter offence.

tells of Soviet , throttled back, aircraft flying 30 ft over deep snow fields dropping troops

without parachutes.

THAT'S REALLY GAMEY.

Awesome...

Also.. awesome first post.

From what I can tell... The AI likes the destruction of enemy forces more than the taking of cities.

Colonel Albert Seaton "The Russo-German War 1941-45" is also a good book.
