Now I figure after reading the manual -most of it , not front to back- and reading and understanding the briefing
that I'd get a victory on road to Minsk or more recently from the expansion Case Blue-Phase 1. I've tryed at least 3 times and I can't. I am playing as Axis on both, I always try to rush my mechanized vehicles and Armor after making a pocket or throughway but I just can't get Voronezh or in the case of the older scenario Minsk.
I bought the expansion figuring I may be able to learn from playing and maybe get a win from some of the shorter scenarios in Don of the Danube. But I can't seem to move them Russians off the main city. I throw everything I have at them even city bombing even though I shouldn't have to I've changed my officers and added support units and air transported supplies. Once in the Minsk scenario I had all my tanks and most of my mechanized surrounding the city on the first turn-usually I can't do this I never have enough MPs- But even after multiple attacks I couldn't move the Russians and their units. Bastards always hold.

Can anyone tell what I need to do to take these cities , these victory points to win. They seem like
pretty basic trainer scenarios that don't require much in the way of administration point management or worry about supply or refitting. But maybe I'm wrong. I don't understand how to maximize my moves. I do what I can to gain ZOC but its just not working. I've seen in the forum here how some got victories for road to Minsk. But they never explain even a little how they managed to do it, they just show how the made all the russian units disappear by making a pocket and heading up certain hex areas which I never have nearly enough movement points are CV power to do. I tryed that it doesn't work. Maybe there are setting to give you the human Axis play an advantage before starting the game to make it winnable. Frankly I would mind playing a scenario with more turns, with more micromanagement or even a short campaign.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Cities tend to have a high defensive CV (2nd number you see on the USSR counters), so it is best to use deliberate attacks on them, not hasty ones.

But I find it is easier to get replies to what you want to know by asking direct questions, aka
"how do I take the city"
"how do I flip hexes"
etc etc.

So, not really sure what you want to know here tbh. But trying and failing is the way to go :)
I am by no means a good player, but since you asked for a short AAR from the Road to Minsk with explanations as to how/why things are done, I will make a short one on that Scn. Take warning though that as allready mentioned, I am not at all the best mentor. Far from it to be true :)
Anyway, a Road to Minsk AAR coming up shortly.

Mystery why you can't take Minsk. Whether short scenarios or full campaigns, Minsk is an easy first (appropriately) strategic objective. Minsk falls to armour well advanced and w/o surrounding the city.

Only thought is that you are getting to Minsk w/o open supply lines, consequently your force might be weak.

Terje's thread is a good example of how to do it.
