Hi,

Is this something I need worry about. The Hornet arrived in Balboa and then set sail for PH. Before it got on the map I attempted to redirect it to San Diego. I got a message that this was impossible (or something like that). After getting frustrated with not being able to redirect it back to PH I sent it back to Balboa. This is the current status. It is in the Balboa off map entrance hex. It does not say that it will arrive in x days.

thanks

The smuged red is "207/9999(9936)"

Redirecting off map TFs while en route is a very bad thing. TFs will get stuck in the off map queue if you do. Are you up to date on the patches? I think there is a patch where this was fixed. I recall it was not an easy problem to solve.

Just wait for the Hornet to enter the map, then redirect her to the port of your choosing. No harm done.

version 1.0.6.1108r9 1/21/12

I think there is another update, but i was under the impression it was minor. will update to it.

Do you believe if I just leave it alone, it will make its way back to Balboa?

1108r9 is the latest. It was also released as an "official patch" that would over-write a lot of files, but the code is the same and those of us already running it from the Beta thread were advised that we already had it and not to worry about the "official patch" as it is the same.

I seem to recall I screwed up and did the same thing you did and after a while it appeared back on the map. I was in the IO and just told it to go to Karachi. Perhaps you can just tell it to go to PH and it will correct itself over time.

I haven't seen anyone mention a timeline for the re-appearance. I had a supply convoy that I re-directed disappear - it was on the TF listing but no icon could be found on map and every once in a while the TF listing said it was at map hex 0,0 [which is not an active hex that you can access]. After a year of game time it still has not re-appeared.
OTOH, I have had some redirected convoys reappear in a couple of weeks even though their routing was borked on redirect. Sincerly hope your Wasp problem turns out this way, and not the exterminator way!

Well, I have patiently waited for the Hornet to arrive at Balboa, since real time 8/29/12. Today, 12/31/12 about 3 months of game time, I turned it around and sent it to SD. It warped there the next turn...

I do have the impression that trying to reverse direction [back to Balboa] basically confuses the game engine because it is in a queue that goes on-map, and Balboa would have it's own particular off-map queue. You can't jump queues - it's not polite!
Glad it finally showed up. Welcome to the school of AE hard knocks!

Hi MuguNiner,

I did something similar and it's not good, however (as it appeared to me) the game engine ran some sort of clean up at the end of a game week and got things headed in some direction.

I had TF with 5 Dutch PatRons headed for Tahiti from Port Stanley and one of the escorts ran out fuel. (For some reason I had No Refuel selected.) When I noticed the problem the TF was 60 days from the map. So I turned it around back to Port Stanley and and it was 120 days back! Then I sent it back to Tahiti and now it had no destination!! That was when I went to the forums for advice and and they said things like "I hope you didn't mess up your game"!!! (Not something you want to hear 200 turns into a PBEM.) Then four-five turns later the fuel fairy came by and fueled up the TF and it was back in Port Stanley in seven more days. The takeaway is - don't mess with TFs while they are offmap!

Cheers,
Guy
